This abstract landscape painting was inspired by the book “Lolly Willowes; or The Loving Huntsman”, a novel by English writer Sylvia Townsend Warner. Considered an early feminist classic, the specific passage that intrigued me is this:
“No ray of the declining sun broke through it, but the whole heavens were beginning to take on a dull, brassy pallor.“
I found that I had to paint the sky conjured up by those words.
©Pamela Hirsch, A Brassy Sky, Oil, 20 x 20 inches
Oil on a cradled Baltic Birch wood panel
Unframed; the cradle is 1.5 inches deep, and the painting may be displayed as is.
Painting Dimensions: 20 in x 20 in
This painting would look perfect in a cozy office den, especially if it was painted in Farrow & Ball's Inchyra Blue or Douter.
